Lose Your Belly Fat and Save Your Heart

Belly fat is known to increase your risk of heart disease.  The link is between the visceral fat in the belly and inflammation and hardening of the arteries, known as atherosclerosis.

So how do you lose the fat around your middle?  Crunches won't help, sorry.  You'll be hiding a six pack under there somewhere, but the fat won't budge.

Secret #1 interval training.  Give up your daily jog and sprint instead.  That's right! Running in 8 second sprints followed by a 12 second recovery phase for a total of 20 minutes, three times a week, helped men drop as much as four pounds of belly fat in 12 weeks.  The best thing about sprinting is kids do it like it's their job.  So put on your running shoes take the kids with you and get going!

Secret #2 avoid eating inflammatory foods.  Sugar, soda, alcohol, bread, and trans fats will all increase inflammation.  Foods that help reduce inflammation are fruits, vegetables, Omega-3's like cod liver oil and some spices like ginger.

Implementing these tips will start you on the road to not only looking healthy but even more important being healthy.
